Kazakopoulos Aristotelis (Professor)

Kazakopoulos Aristotelis

Professor at the department of Information and Electronics Engineering. Kazakopoulos Aristotelis was born in Thessaloniki in 1956. In 1973, following successful entrance examinations, he entered the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He followed the direction of Electrical Engineering and graduated in 1978 with grade 7.7. From 1981 to 1986 he worked as scientific collaborator at the Department of Electronics at ATEI Thessaloniki and also as a free lancer electrical and mechanical engineer. From1986 to 1989 he worked as an instructor at the Greek Secondary Technical Education. In 1989 he was elected Laboratoty Professor at the Department of Electronics at the ATEI of Thessaloniki and in 1993 Assistant professor at the same department. From 1996 to 2000 he was head of the Department of Electronics of ATEI of Thessaloniki. In June 2010 he received a ph degree from the Department of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in ‘Ionic Conductivity of solid electrolytes’. In February 2012 he was elected Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics of ATEI Thessalonki. He taught Electronics III, Power Electronics, Microcontrollers I,II, Applications of Microcontrollers, Communication Networks, Electric Measurements, Electronic Physics, Microwaves, Digital Circuits I, Mass media I,II, Architecture of Computer Systems. In September2014 he was elected Head of the Department of Electronics at ATEI Thessssaloniki. From September 2014 until November 2017 he was the head of the Department of Electronics at ATEI Thessaloniki. From September 2016 he became first degree professor at the Department of Electronics of ATEI Thessssaloniki. From September 2019 he is Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at International Hellenic University.

Kioskeridis Iordanis (Professor)

Kioskeridis Iordanis

He holds a BA in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki titled “Loss minimization in induction motor drives”. He worked for 5 years as a supervising engineer at ENOIA SA and in 2004 he was elected as an Associate Professor in the Electronics Department of the School of Technological Applications of ATEI/Th. Since 2010 he holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering of the ATEI/Th, which since 7/5/2019 has evolved into the Department of Information and Electronics Engineering of International Hellenic University. His research interests focus on the design and modeling of power converters, optimization of drive systems, renewable energy sources and power recovery. He has participated in a variety of research programs, he has 16 publications in international journals, 22 in international conferences and 3 patents. He has authored the books titled “Power Electronics” and “Renewable Energy Sources and Power Electronics Applications”. He is a reviewer in a number of scientific journals, member of the TEE and the IEEE. He has been Head of the Electronics Department and a member of the ATEI/Th Council.

Dimitrios Papakostas (Professor)

Dimitrios Papakostas

He serves as a Professor in the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering at the International Hellenic University of Greece in the field of “Analog and Digital Electronics Systems” and holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1991) and PhD of the same Institute (1999) with a thesis on the fault diagnosis of electronic circuit. He has been involved, as a research responsible and as a principal and postdoctoral researcher in research programs for more than 20 years. He has published more than 60 scientific articles in international journals and conference proceedings and more than 200 citations of other researchers have been found in these publications. He is a reviewer in international scientific journals and conferences. His research interests focus on the analysis, design and fault diagnosis of electronic circuit and system.

Periklis Chatzimisios (Professor)

Periklis Chatzimisios, serves as a Professor in the Department of Science and Technology at the International Hellenic University (IHU), Greece. In the past he has served as the Director of the Computing Systems, Security and Networks (CSSN) Research Lab and as the Vice Dean for the Faculty of Science and Technology. He is a Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Science & Technology, at Bournemouth University, UK. In the past he served as Visiting Professor and Distinguished Researcher in prestigeous Universities like University of Toronto (Canada), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (China) and University Pierre and Marie Curie (France). Chatzimisios participates as a researcher and scientific officer in many European and national research and development projects. He is/has been involved in several standardization and IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) activities serving to the IEEE 5G Initiative, the ComSoc Standards Development Board, the ComSoc Standards Program Development Board and the IEEE ComSoc Education Services Board. He is also very active in IEEE activities such as serving as Member of IEEE ComSoc Education & Training Board (2015-today), Chair of the Communication Chapter of the IEEE Greece Section, Chair (Vice-Chair during 2018-2019, Secretary during 2016-2017) of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee in Information Infrastructure and Networking (TCIIN), Vice Chair of the Emerging Technical Subcommittee on Big Data (TSCBD), Secretary of the IEEE Technical Committee on Cognitive Networks (TCCN) (during 2012-2014) and being the Founder/Counselor for the IEEE Student Branch of ATEITHE.

Ioannidou Melina (Associate Professor)

Ioannidou Melina

Melina P. Ioannidou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She is currently an Associate Professor on “Wireless Communications, Antennae and Communication Theory” in the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, International Hellenic University. She received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1989 and 1997, respectively. Her Ph.D. thesis deals with the problem of scattering of electromagnetic waves by complex, dielectric, spherical structures, with applications to radar meteorology and detection of soot particles in the atmosphere. From January 1990 to July 2003 she worked as researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She participated in several research projects, which dealt with mobile communications, design and construction of various RF components, biological effects of radiowaves, radar polarimetry and radar meteorology. From March 1998 to September 2004 she worked as instructor in the Department of Electronics, Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (ATEITh), Greece. From October 2004 to December 2012 she served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics, ATEITh, whereas since December 2012 she serves as Associate Professor in the same department. She has authored/coauthored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. There have been found more than 250 citations to her papers. She serves as reviewer to several scientific journals and conferences. She is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Iosifidis Athanasios (Associate Professor)

Iosifidis Athanasios

Athanasios Iossifides (Iosifidis) received his diploma in Electrical Engineering and his PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. From 1999 to 2010 he was with COSMOTE SA, first as telecommunications engineer, then (2004) as leader of the Access and Transmission Network team while in 2008 he was appointed as the head of the Network Management Section of North Greece. He participated in 4 internal development projects on optimization of the transmission network and he was member of the vendor evaluation committee for 3G and 3.5G technologies. Additionally, he participated in several procedure optimization projects coordinating some of them. He co-organized with the HR and lectured 7 technical seminars on 3G and 3.5G technologies. From 2010 to 2019 he was with the Department of Electronics Engineering and since May 2019 he is with the Information and Electronic Engineering department teaching courses on Signal Processing, Wireless and Mobile Communications, and IoT. He was academic coordinator for the Erasmus+ programme of his department and member of the Erasmus Institutional Coordinating Committee from 2010 to 2018. Since October 2018 he is the Director of the Advanced Electronic Engineering Lab. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and IEEE since 1994. He has served as Editor for Wiley Transactions on Emerging Telecommunication Technologies (2013-2018) where, he received one of the Best Editors Award (2017), and IEEE Communications Letters (2015-2018). He has served as TPC co-chair in 4 international conferences and as a TPC member in numerous international conferences. He has participated in several national and international research projects on wireless communications and he coordinated a project on measurements conduction and evaluation of 2G and 3G networks of MTN Cyprus. His main research interests lie in the areas of wireless and mobile communications, IoT and STEM education. He has written with his colleagues over 40 scientific papers in international journals, conferences and books.

Spasos Michail (Associate Professor)

Spasos Michail

He serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of International Hellenic University with subject “Design of Analog Switching Systems”. He studied Electronics in the Higher School of Electronics “EUCLIDES” of Thessaloniki. He acquired a Diploma in Advanced Electronics from Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (T.E.I.Th), in 1987 and M.Sc in Quality Assurance from the School of Applied Sciences and Technology of Hellenic Open University, in 2007. He received his PhD from the School of Engineering and Design of Brunel University, U.K, in 2011. The main scope of his research is the design and implementation of RF MEMS switches for reconfigurable antennas. He has published about 30 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, conference proceedings and books and he has served as a reviewer for international journals. His main research interests lie in the area of RF MEMS switches, Reconfigurable microstrip antennas, Sensors and measurement systems. He is author of the books “Electronics Measurements and Instrumentation” “Sensors Analog Signal Processing” and “Modern Applications of Analog Electronics”

Kotsakis Rigas (Assistant Professor)

Kotsakis Rigas

Rigas Kotsakis is Assistant Professor in Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of International Hellenic University. He graduated from Polytechnic School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (2003) and he continued his studies in Master of Science in “Advanced Computer and Communication Systems” (2011) while he received his PhD diploma in 2015 in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Among his research interests are semantic analysis of audiovisual signals, multimedia content analysis and management and fields of Radio/TV production.

Kokkonis George (Assistant Professor)

George Kokkonis is assistant Professor at the Dept. of Information and Electronic Engineering of the International University of Greece. He received his PhD from Department of Applied Informatics, University of Macedonia, Greece. He received a five-year Eng. Diploma from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his MSc in Information Systems from the University of Macedonia. He has worked as assistant Professor for three years at the Dept. of Business Administration, University of Western Macedonia, Greece. He also worked as adjunct professor for 12 years at the Dept. of Computer Applications in Management and Economics, Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of West Macedonia, Grevena, Greece. He has been teaching Lessons of Multimedia Systems, Pc Programming and Data Bases. For 10 years was responsible of the NOC of the branch of the University of Western Macedonia in the city of Grevena, Greece. His research interests include haptic interfaces, multisensory protocols, teleoperations and human–computer interaction.

Sapounidis Theodosios (External Associate Member)

Sapounidis Theodosios

Theodosios Sapounidis was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in Piraeus. He first graduated from the Department of Electronics Engineering in 1996 and then in 2002 he also graduated from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University’s Polytechnic School. He gained a Master’s Degree in Informatics before continuing to a PhD where his thesis focused on using objects to help children learn the basic principles of programming. During his studies, he received many awards and with the Cubes Coding proposal won two international prizes: the Open Education Challenge award and the second prize of The Neo Ubimedia MindTrek Awards 2014. Recently, with the project robotiles which consist of a smart robot and a fully interactive tangible programming language won four national and intentional awards (RG Challenge18, winner, 5th ACT School of Business John Papajohn award, winner of the 8th competition of Innovation and Technology, third award at 10th international university competition on entrepreneurship & innovation (ENNOVATION 2017) Research stream). Theodosis has worked in over 10 research projects of the Schools of Medicine, Informatics, Psychology, and Philosophy and Education. He has also worked for the Greek Institute of Metrology and he was a lab assistant of the Electronics Engineering Department of ATEITh for over 10 years.
